Why I can't a-GRE-e ? The turning of Success

Presently I am going through a gloomy phase of my life during my internship in IBM Research Lab. There seem to be many oppurtunities ahead of me but I can't decide my way out.

Mugging the wordlists is necessary for GRE as well as CAT but Barron's book simply sucks. I don't know what my parents expect of me ( the only thing i know that they want me to be successful) .

Lets dive deep into the definition of success?

  • Is it that you lead a satisfied life ?
  • Is it that you are well approved of among your circles ?
  • Is it that you are respected by your own people, your family ?
  • Is it that you will are remembered long after your body is not there ?

I feel that a combination of all four with an optimum mixture is necessary.

What is the use of success if you are not happy ? What is the use of success if you don't have good relationships with your friends ? What is the use of success if your own son doesn't respect you when he grows up ? What is the use of success if people don't remember you after your own death ?

Was Mahatma Gandhi successful ... Probably yes and no both ?
Yes because he earned a lot of respect , name and fame for the things he did selflessly ?
No, i feel because did his his own son respect him enough ? As far as history tell us , his son had moral conflicts with Gandhi. Whether his son was wrong or not doesn't count, Our Mahatma couldn't impress his son .

Enough of philosophy .. gudnight from Savya

Hey Savvy!!! arrey tujhe gloomy dekha nahi jaata... btw, gud bloggin !! keep bloggin n rockin like this... and here is a suggestion to jus try n make ur thoughts abt ur career clearer.. First, this phase of confusion/indecisiveness comes in the phase of every person... Every person at some point tries to define his goals in life - his ultimate aim... he wants to make sure his interests go well wid those of his near ones, that he gets everything -- money, success, power, fame, satisfaction.. Its certainly very difficult (impossible I believe) to get all.. I believe one must go for the way that leads to satisfaction.. that way u'll atleast die smiling.. As far as what ur peers/parents feel abt ur goals, u dont hv to worry.. as ur parents only want to see u HAPPY in whatever u do.. so dont bother abt that aspect! ... i guess thats all i hv to say! am cutting off lest u may get bored wid the lecture !! keep smiling :)

These are normal pre-graduation blues we all went through. I feel that if you dont like something you should never force yourself. Converse also holds true. Ultimately, you are the guy spending the rest of your life with a full-time job that you have chosen for yourself. If it doesnt excite you then there is no point, even if it gives you loads of cash ( my POV).
But I strongly feel we should all give back something. Do something that you will be proud about. Forget others. Cheer up!
